ABOUT THIS LESSON
When working on rooftop installations, it’s crucial to ensure safety measures are in place. Here’s a quick guide:
Before starting any work, ensure the inverter is switched off.
Inspect the DC isolators and make sure there is no load on the DC cables.
Check the inverter to confirm it is safe to approach and not live.
Turn off the inverter by switching the AC isolator to the off position.
If there are issues with the AC isolator, consider isolating the system at the main switch inverter supply.
Avoid turning off polarized DC isolators under load to prevent potential fire hazards.
In case of any doubts about safety, always opt for isolating at the switchboard for added precaution.

With experience as a Solar Victoria auditor, CER Inspector, and a background at the Clean Energy Council (CEC), Pat is well-known in the industry. He’s a devoted family man, with five children, who enjoys playing park cricket in the summer.
